School Education Department, formerly known as Secondary Education Department, is responsible for promotion of education from Early Childhood Education (ECE) till Grade 12. It administers 15,096 Schools and provides services of over 76,000 human resource.
School Education Department has the support of Policy, Planning & Implementation Unit (PPIU), Directorate of Education (Schools), Bureau of Curriculum & Extension Center (BoC & EC), Provincial Institute for Teachers Education (PITE), Balochistan Text Book Board (BTBB), Balochistan Board of Intermediate & Secondary Education (BBISE), Balochistan Education Foundation (BEF) and Balochistan Assessment and Examination Commission (BAEC). Their responsibilities are as follows:
PPIU
Policy, Planning & Implementation Unit (PPIU) is a specialized Unit of School Education Department. It provides policy and planning support to School Education Department.
Director of Education (Schools) Balochistan
Directorate of Education (Schools) Balochistan is responsible for the management of all Schools and their personnel managed by 8 Divisional Directors of Education (Schools) and a District Education Officer (DEO) in each District. The DEOs are supported by District Officer Education (DOE) (Male) and District Officer Education (Female) and Officers / Staff working under them.
Bureau of Curriculum & Extension Centers (BoC & EC)
BoC & EC is responsible for development of curriculum, review of textbooks, and education standards.
Provincial Institute for Teachers Education (PITE)
PITE is responsible for training of in-service teachers and managers working in Government Schools and Educational Offices across Balochistan.
Balochistan Text Book Board (BTBB)
BTBB is responsible for regulation of textbooks based on Official Curriculum in the province.
Balochistan Assessment & Examination Commission (BAEC)
BAEC is responsible for conducting diagnostic assessments for Primary and Middle levels and large scale examinations for Grade 8.
Balochistan Board of Intermediate and Secondary Education (BBISE), Quetta
BBISE is responsible for conducting Secondary School Certificate (SSC) and Higher Secondary School Certificate (HSSC) Examinations in the province. BBISE is presently working under the administrative control of Colleges, Higher & Technical Education Department.
Balochistan Education Foundation (BEF)
BEF operates as an autonomous body to support the functions of School Education Department.
